What level of CKD should one stop metformin ?

Is there a level or creat that one has to stop metformin? Should we base it creat clearance

Usually eGFR less than 35 ml/min, then should stop metformin

It is better to switch to insulin as GFR falls due to risk of lactic acidosis with metformin
